Humanitarian crisis in Ukraine: Ways to help

The conflict that began on February 24, 2022, between Russia and Ukraine has garnered attention around the globe. The military incursion includes air and missile strikes and ground troops, and the impact on Ukrainian civilians has been devastating.

Some experts fear the war could result in Europe’s largest humanitarian crisis since the Balkans in the 1990s. More than 1 million people have fled from Ukraine, according to the United Nations, with some being displaced within Ukraine and others finding refuge in neighboring countries. Some are also without basic supplies such as food, water, clothing and shelter.

You may be wondering how you can help those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine through your charitable efforts. Raymond James Charitable has received a substantial number of inquiries asking for guidance on where to donate, so the team put together a list of vetted organizations for you to consider.

The following organizations have been recommended by our partners at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP). Many of these organizations have been supported by Raymond James Charitable donors in the past and are highly recommended by Charity Navigator. CDP is in regular contact with these non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and has first-hand knowledge of exactly how the funds are aiding those suffering from this humanitarian crisis.

We may be physically distant from the conflict, but we can reach out our hands – and hearts – in other ways to help. Your generosity will make a difference to those who need help right now.
