Hurricane Ian: WAYS TO HELP

A rapidly changing path took Hurricane Ian south of Tampa to make landfall as a Category 4 with winds of 150-plus mph in Cayo Costa. We feel fortunate that all Raymond James Charitable staff are safe, although we know many experienced power outages, flooding, loss of power and other major damages.

In the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, basic needs take priority: shelter, feeding, water, debris cleanup, health and family reunification. However, there will be long-term needs for the weeks, months and years to come, including business recovery, rebuilding homes, infrastructure construction and mental health support.

You may be wondering how you can help those affected by the hurricane through your charitable efforts. Raymond James Charitable has received numerous inquiries asking for guidance on where to donate, so the team has curated a list of vetted organizations for you to consider.

The following organizations have been recommended by our partners at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP). Many of these organizations have been supported by Raymond James Charitable donors in the past and are highly recommended by Charity Navigator. CDP has ongoing contact with these nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and has firsthand knowledge of exactly how the funds are aiding those suffering from this disaster. Additionally, many have been CDP grantees in the past, so full due diligence has been carried out.

There are also several community funds that have been established. These will support both immediate and long-term recovery. CDP has reviewed these as well for your consideration.

While our thoughts are with all who were impacted, we know action and support are needed to truly start the rebuilding and recovery process. Your generosity will make a difference to those in need right now.
